Miss Anguilla - Amber Woodley

Meet 21-year-old Amber Nicole Woodley born on 22nd December 1985. From an early age Miss Woodley showed promise to her 35-square mile Anguillian community, as she was one who refused to be complacent, carving herself into the well-rounded and powerful young woman that dares to face the challenges of this day. Amber was dubbed Valedictorian- Class of 1997 of the Road Primary School and went on to successfully complete nine (9) CXC subjects at the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School. She graduated as Most Outstanding Student, winning awards in English A & B and Home Management in the Class of 2002. With an insatiable thirst for knowledge, Amber furthered her studies and completed five (5) CAPE subjects and graduated in 2004 with the award in Caribbean Studies and Geography.

Amber is of the firm belief that education is a vital tool, which "makes a people easy to lead, but difficult to drive: easy to govern but impossible to enslave." It came as no surprise therefore when Amber was accepted to pursue a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree in Economics at Brock University in Ontario, Canada, which she completed in April of 2007. Miss Woodley is planning to attend the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto where she will attain a Bachelor of Education. Naturally, on completion of her studies in 2008, she intends to return home and join the teaching force where she will be able and equipped to effect change.

Miss Anguilla credits her success not only to God almighty but also to the benefit of an extended family, friends and an active social and cultural life. Amber believed that it was important for her to be academically inclined but to also be a well-rounded individual. She founu great pleasure in her membership of many organizations including: President of the All-Ah-Wee Young Theatre Players, Debater for Literary and Debating Society, Youth Fellowship, Cheerleading, Panache Couture Modeling Team, BROCK DANCE and other cultural associations at University. Amber mostly enjoys listening to music, dancing, singing, socializing and modeling. In 2000 she combined these hobbies to capture the title of Miss Caribbean Commercial Bank Talented Teen, 2nd Runner-Up Miss Haynes Smith Caribbean Talented Teen and later Miss Leeward Islands Talented Teen in 2001. Her contributions to Anguilla's Summer Festival however did not stop there. Miss Woodley successfully advised, trained and chaperoned several Talented Teen, Prince & Princess, Tiny tot and Queen Show contestants. In 2006 she decided to recapture the spotlight when she entered and won the Miss Anguilla Queens Pageant. As an advocate for positivity and confidence, Amber has decided that she will be defined by her dreams and refined by her experiences.
