With just about one month to go before Vincy Mas festivities kick off with the Ragga Soca finals at the Victoria Park, the numerous rural carnival action taking place around St. Vincent and the Grenadines is putting Vincentians in the mood for the Hottest Carnival in the Caribbean.
Wet fetes, kiddies carnivals, motorcades, street parties, queen shows, jÕouvert and jump ups; all a part of events that take place every weekend around the country.
The rural carnivals got started since March 28th and is expected to run until early August.
Official activities are taking place in South Leeward, South Windward, Layou, Barrouallie, East St. George, and Marriaqua, with events to take place in Bequia and Canouan later.
Unofficial events are expected to take place in areas such as South Rivers, Byrea and North Leeward among other places.
The rural carnival is a tremendous build-up to this years carnival, which is being affected like anything else, by the global economic crisis.
But if these events can be used as an indicator, Vincy Mas 2009 may still be one for the books.
