Dimanche Gras taking shape..Calypso finalists selected .30/06/2008

Another component of the Dimanche Gras has been put in place with the selection of the ten calypsonians to face Vibrating Scakes in the finals of the National Calypso Monarch Competition.

 

SundayÕs event will see seven monarchs battling for the crown, and four other seasoned calypsonians eager for a taste of the monarchy.

 

At the end of Fantastic FridayÕs semifinal show, four of the five calypsoninas from the foreign based Dynamites Calypso Tent moved on to big yard; these are former kings Rejector (Sin, Cheerleader) and  De Man Age (I Aint Selling Out, The Man is me Friend) with Exposer (Find ah Next Venue, Things yo Does Hear) and Dennis Bowman (Country Belongs To We, Plenty More).

 

From the On Tour Calypso Tent, past monarchs Ipa (Management Problem, Sing On That) and Abijah (Chatoyer Pickney, Jumbie Police) are into the finals along with Patches (Take A little Time, Sing Yo Calypso).

 

Past winners Sulle (Crown Of Thorns, Negative Vibes) and Princess Monique (WhoÕs Laughing Now, Beyond Party Lines) along with Black Messenger (Yesterday, Today And Tomorrow, Pass It To The Consumer) make up the ten finalists.

 

Graduates singer Tajoe (Life Aint No Bed Of Roses, They Forgot) and Struggler ( More Culture, VAT) of the North/South Leeward Tent have been named as reserves.
