Starlift Retain Junior Pan Title
Amassing a total
of 428 points, Sea Operations Starlift Steel
Orchestra were able to hold on to the Junior Panorama title at the Victoria
Park on Thursday July Third.
Following on the
heels of the Junior Calypso /Soca Monarch Competition
two days before, and the Junior (Kiddies) Carnival on June 29th, the
young pannists upheld the hopes for the Carnival
component whose future is most doubted by ÔpunditsÕ.
Performing their
rendition of the late calypsonian Reginald ÔProfessorÕ
CornwallÕs ÔMas In De HospitalÕ, the pan side,
sponsored by Sea Operations SVG Ltd, outplayed eight other groups to take the title which they won last year.
In second place,
performing Rumping On A Hump by De Rebel Band were
the National Lotteries Authority Sion Hill Euphonium
with 364 points
They narrowly
edged out the GirlsÕ High School by three points; who performed the Becket classic
ÔCaribbean GirlsÕ.
In fourth place
were the Questelles Symphonix,
followed by St.JosephÕs Convent Kingstown, sixth were
the CW Prescod Primary School, with the Layou Government School seventh, Troumaca Primary School eighth and Union island/ Mandela Pan rounding out the
competitors.
