9 contestants have been in training over the past months in preparation for Miss SVG 2008.

Our goal is to prepare the contestants for every facet of competition, while gaining a sense of empowerment, self-worth and self- confidence to achieve the ultimate level of success in their lives.

 

We develop and coach contestants to achieve top places in local, regional and international competitions. We cover a variety of areas specific to pageant competition, and develop skills that will be beneficial to contestants in their personal and professional lives.

 

The areas of training cover:

Professional make-up techniques

Grooming & Image development, wardrobe selection

Exercise, posture, poise, walk, on stage presentation

Media and interview, bio preparation

Confidence building, communication and body language skills

Personal development, social graces

Self esteem, personal hygiene, nutrition

 

Mr Lennox John, Mrs Ernestine Sutherland, Mrs Muriel Fraser, Mr Chester Connell, and Mrs June Huggins conduct sessions on Mondays, Tuesdays,

Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

For the first time, an official sashing ceremony was held at the Cruise Ship Berth on Sunday April 27th, at which 8 representatives from sponsors were afforded the opportunity to sash their own contestant. This is the CDCÕs way of saying thank you to our sponsors who so readily agreed to invest their resources in this pageant. Thank you for your confidence in our work.

We also held a Talent preview on Sat. April 26th and we are pleased to report that we are indeed impressed.

The remainder of the programme from this date to May 31st 2008 includes:

 

Open interview session at MurrayÕs Heights on Wednesday April 30th at 4.30 p.m.

 

First public appearance at the Launching of Vincy Mas on Sat .May 3rd .This is something to look forward to as the contestants will be required to do something new at this function.

Meet the media at Young Island Resorts Ltd. on Saturday May 10th

Guest appearance at Upstage Experience function at Aquatic Club

Guest appearance at Miss SVG Teen pageant at the Arnos Vale Sporting Complex

 

Visit to Cabinet on May 14th

Windward Road Trip on Sunday May 17th

 

Visits to all Radio Stations from May 19th to May 29th

 

Visit to school for children with special needs and Helping Hands Centre on May 21st

 

Guest appearance at the South Windward Queen Show and Calypso Finals on Friday May 23rd at the Biabou Hard court

 

Leeward road trip on Sunday May 24th 2008

 

Dress rehearsal on Thursday May 29th

 

Official Motorcade around Kingstown on Friday May 30th, leaving Victoria Park at 3.30 p.m.

 

Contestants will be judged in:

Swimwear       25 points

Talent            20 points

Evening gown 25 points

Interview       30 points

 

Contestants will also make an introductory appearance in costumes which will not be judged.

Costumes

 

The winner of MISS SVG 2008 will receive a University scholarship valued at E.C. $80.000.00 from The Government of SVG, $8,000.00 from the CDC, gifts from other Institutions.

The 1st Runner-up will receive $5,000.00 plus gifts

The 2nd runner-up $3,000.00 plus gifts

All other contestants will receive $1,000.00

 

The programme for the night of the show will be presented at a later date. Patrons can look forward to brilliant performances from all contestants and an entertaining package.
