Miss SVG 2008 Ronique DellimoreRonique Dellimore – Miss Darcheville Construction Ltd – now joins a long list of beauties who have won the Miss SVG beauty pageant.

Fighting off stiff competition, she was crowned Miss SVG 2008, securing the top prize of a scholarship to the University of the West Indies, worth EC$80,000, and EC$8000 in cash.

The nine contestants gave it their all as they were judged by a panel, in the Swimwear, Talent, Evening Gown and Interview sections. The panel, led by Ali Ledgerhead, comprised of Jennifer Glasgow-Browne, Richard Munroe, Petronella Sylvester and Theresa Daniel.

First runner-up Nekesha Adams also won Miss Photogenic and stole Best Talent with a well-executed rendition of a medley of songs.

Most Community Spirited and Best Interview. Miss Super Six, LaToya Lewis, won Miss Congeniality.

The show began promptly at 8pm and ran smoothly until the end; the only extended pause being the tallying of the judgesÕ scores. Emcees E.B John and comedienne Nikki Crosby provided delightful commentary throughout the show.

It would seem that the Beauty Shows CommitteeÕs (of the CDC) efforts to improve the promotion and quality of the show paid off, as the Victoria Park was almost full to maximum capacity. The crowd was a responsive and enthusiastic one; each contestant having seemed to have brought her own crowd supporters.

Mid-show entertainment was provided by Starlift Steel Orchestra, La Gracia Dancers, Vibrating Scakes, Sulle, Zola and Skarpyon.

Ecstatic at having won the Miss SVG 2008 competition, Ronique Dellimore promises to have a lot more in store for her performance in the Miss Carival Beauty Pageant. Both she and Chairperson of Beauty Shows Committee Cheryl Rodriguez are once again encouraging the public to come out and show their support at Miss Carival. Rodriguez yet again predicts an efficient and high calibre show.
