Rural Carnival activities, continues this weekend with activities in Layou, Barrouallie, Biabou, and Georgetown as follows:

LAYOU

On Friday 23^rd May Layou carnival will be launched with a massive Wet Fete at the Herman Young Center hardcourt in Layou.

There will be an appearance by their 2008 Queen contestants along with modeling by members of Joanna,s Modelling Agency. Soca artistes Stedigan and Alla-G are also a part of the launching which commences at 8.00pm.

Furious Sounds and DJ Black Ice will provide entertainment.

BIABOU

On Friday 23^rd May, The South Windward Carnival Committee will be hosting their Queen Show and Calypso Competitions.

Five queen contestants will be vying for the title of Miss South Windward 2008.

Similarly five Calypsonians will be competing for the 2008 South Windward Monarch title.

Guest appearance will be made by Tortola based Vincentian Calypsonian Ojinga and Trinidad based Vincentian Calypsonian Typher. Trinidadian Soca artiste Sexy Suzy along with Alla-G, DJ Sargeant Simmons and other artistes will provide great entertainment.

The 2008 Miss S.V.G Contestants will also be making an appearance at this show, which commences at 8.30 PM at the Biabou Hard Court.

JOUVERT & STREET JUMP UP

Following the Queen Show and Calypso Competition, the action will move from the hard court to the streets of Biabou for their jouvert celebrations from 4.00 AM.

In the afternoon the action will return to the streets of Biabou once again for the last lap of the 2008 South Windward Carnival Celebrations. The truck gets rolling from 4.00 PM, with what is expected to be a massive street jump up as per usual.

This street jump up is being sponsored Digicel.

BARROUALLIE

The Barrouallie Carnival which was launched on Friday 16^th and continued on Sunday 18^th May with their Kiddies Carnival will be hosting a Wet Fete as part of their carnival activities.

This will be taking place at the Keartons Hardcourt on Saturday 24^th May from 8.00 PM.

Sound reinforcement will be provided by Blue Dragon Sound System. DJ’s Bartez and Too Kool Kris will provide entertainment along with Barrouallie Soca Star “Coke Face”.

GEORGETOWN

Georgetown Carnival activities will commence this Sunday evening ( May 25^th )with a Miss Princess Pageant.

Contestants between the ages of 9 to 11 years will be vying for the 2008 title.

Entertainment will be provided by the Sion Hill Euphonium Junior Pan, the 2007 Junior Calypso Monarch, The Avenue Dancers along with DJ’s Exclusive Sounds and Madd Squad.

The Spotlight Stadium is the venue for this activity which is slated to commence at 5.00PM.
