VINCY MAS – Updates
The Carnival Development
Corporation has just met with the RURAL
Committees to assist them with Planning of their events for 2008. This looks very hopeful, keeping pace with the theme of the
HOTTEST CARNIVAL in the Caribbean, and for the presentation of activities in
the various communities
Some of these will begin
– literally ÔHOTÕ on the heels of the National Launching of Carnival scheduled for Saturday May 3rd, 2008. The full schedule of the Dates of
the Rural Events will be published
soon.
Our Mas Bands are proceeding with
Launching their Mas Presentations for 2008, and some which have gone
forward already including- Blondie Bird and Friends, High Voltage, My Imagination. Nelson Bloc, Tribes-
and have experienced substantial crowds at these events. It would appear that enrollments are
proceeding well at this time.
Several others are yet to come – so all are encouraged to keep in
touch with the media
announcements and with this website. The CDC is also hoping to showcase
all
of the costume drawings of
Mas Bands on our official website – once they can be made available to
the CDC.
The Components are continuing to host their various Workshops, and interested persons are
asked to make the time to attend.
These Workshops are useful for providing guidelines and ideas on the
further development on the variety of ÔCraftsÕ which are the Components of
VINCY MAS. Workshops on aspects of
Judging of various competitions are
also planned.
These are all being
facilitated by financial support from the CDC.
The Final Draft of the Symposium on Carnival has been
presented to the CDC and the Board is at this time studying the
recommendations. From this, we
will see which aspects of the Report are practical for implementation.
We have also had the
opportunity to meet with the 10 potential delegates for the Miss SVG Show. These young ladies had the occasion to
introduce themselves, and I must say, that they are all bright hopefuls and
will provide us with a great Show.

We are working along with
the Beauty Shows Committee to realize which issues and aspects can be enhanced
