Following the conclusion of the calypso semi-final on Friday night at the La Croix Boxing Plant the judges came up with the 10 calypsonians who will try to wrest the crown from the heal of the reigning Calypso Monarch, Bridgette 'Joy-C' Creese (2009, 2010).
The 10 include four former Monarchs in Michael 'Lord Have Mercy' Ollivierre, (1981), Carlos 'Rejector' Providence (1992), Glenroy 'Sulle' Caesar (1997, 2005) and Elvis 'Abijah' Abbey (2002).

Two females: Javelle ‘Lady Diamond’ Frank and Aurella 'Queen B' Beache, are in the final.
Kingsley 'Hero' Roberts is a newcomer to the final, while Shernelle 'Skarpyon' Williams and Maxwell 'Tajo' Francis will be making their second trip to 'Carnival City', the Victoria Park, venue for the National Calypso Monarch final.

After an absence of several years, Elliot 'Mystery' Shallow is back in competition with the aim of winning his first national crown.
The National Calypso Monarch competition will be held on Sunday 3 July, Dimanche Gras, and will also feature the King and Queen of the Bands competitions.
