Kiddies Carnival

Thirteen Mas Bands will this Saturday June 25thvie for the coveted Sylvia Wilson Junior Band of the Year title when the 2011 Junior/Kiddies Carnival competition comes off at Carnival City Victoria Park.

The 13 Mas bands that will be fighting for the coveted Junior Band of the Year title will be attempting to dethrone the KFC Heineken Dragons and the SVG General Services Players International Mas Bands. The two tied for first place last year.
This year, Dragons will attempt to seize the Junior Band of the Year crown with their presentation, ‘Journey Through the Silk Road’. Their kiddies costumes this year are called Indian Trader and Soldiers.

SVG General Services Players International will this year present, ‘At the Movies’. Their 2011 Kiddies sections are ‘Aladdin’ and ‘Sound of Music’. Reneisha Rose of Players will also be defending the Junior Queen of the Band title. She will be attempting to take the crown for the fourth time.

In third place last year at the Junior level was Guinness/Y De Lima/Hitz FM 103.7 Blonde Bird & Friends. Last year they gave the public, ‘King of Pop – Tribute to Michael Jackson’ while this year they will present for judging, ‘Nature’s Fury’. Their kiddies sections are called, ‘Astroid’ and ‘Sunspot’. They will also be defending the Junior King of the Band title in the form of Jelani Niles.
In fourth position last year was Digicel / Hitz FM 103.7 Nelson Bloc Mas Camp with ‘We Are ... A Celebration of Wise Choices’. This year, Nelson Block will present ‘From Our Caribbean Garden’. The youngsters will play mass in the junior sections called, ‘Gardener’ (boys) and ‘Lady Bug’ (girls).

First Caribbean / WE FM / KBB Shipping / Singer Lynx was fifth last year with, ‘Ole People Say’. This year, the group has opted out of the Carnival celebrations stating that they are taking a year to restructure.
Aunt Jobe's Market/ Metrocint General Insurance Co Ltd High Voltage Mas Band will present "Emotions in Color". Their Junior Sections are, ‘Enthuiasm’ (boys) and ‘Joyful’ (girls).

Owen Ralph and the Professionals will this year give us, ‘Clown in Around’ while Beautex International will present ‘Heat’. Sting Power-Searchlight Tribes Carnival Band will give us ‘Tribes of Africa’ while Imagination will come forward with ‘Explosion of Colours’. Ahdrenalin Mas will do ‘Fashionista’, Mirage Production ‘White Darkness’ and Melbourne Artisans ‘Splendor and Magnificence’. Although Xtreme Fanatics are registered for 2011 competition, they will not be competing in junior Carnival.
