Miss North Windward - Happy to be a Winner

Winner of this year's Miss North Windward beauty pageant, Raneasha Lorraine,17, was in a happy mood when the Carnival Development Corporation, CDC, Coordinator of Rural Carnival, Esworth 'Ezzie' Roberts, placed the crown on her head Friday 3 June at the Langley Park Boxing Plant.
A former student of the Georgetown Secondary School and a student at the Technical College, Lorraine says it was the first time she was in winner's row in a beauty contest, having placed First Runner up in the 2009 edition of the Miss Georgetown Festival.
It was not an easy road to the crown, Lorrained explained, stating that with the assistance of Lafayette Johnson and Camille Mc Intosh, she was able to persevere.
“This is a stepping stone and exposure for me as I prepare for Miss SVG in the near future,” Lorraine said.
“I feel great and I feel proud of myself that I was able to go and give of my best and my best was good enough. I feel great.”
While Lorraine has her goals set on succeeding in her education and other beauty shows, she has made a commitment to take care of her grandfather who is over 80.
“I love my grandfather a lot,” she said.
Lorraine entered the show as Miss La Soufriere and received competition from Miss Bloody Bridge, Shaffiquer Nanton; Miss Black Point, Shanell Pierre; Miss Black Point, Suellwyn Spring and Miss Falls of Baliene, Banzella Hoyte.
