The Miss Carival Pageant was introduced in SVG in 1985 as part of Vincy Mas, which was held from the last Friday in June to early July for ten days. In 1996 there was no pageant. This year 2011 marks the 26th staging at Victoria Park on Friday July 1st 2011. 10 countries including SVG will participate. Contestants will arrive in the State on LIAT (1974) Ltd. the airline of the pageant on Monday June 27th 2011 and depart on Saturday July 2nd 2011. Accomodation will be provided at Young Island Resorts Ltd. at very concessionary rates.
We believe that the Miss Carival pageant has met and surpassed its objectives of :
> participation from Caribbean countries, geared at fostering greater linkages and bonds between our many islands
> encouraging contestants, chaperones and persons attending the pageant to return to SVG
> showcasing the beauty and diversity of Caribbean young women
> offering the warmth and hospitality that have characterized SVG to contestants, chaperones and other support persons
>producing a show with a difference that could be marketed locally, regionally and internationally.
>producing a beauty pageant in keeping with international standards
>ensuring maximum attendance at the Park by stimulating the interest of patrons and fans
>collecting gate receipts to cover expenses
> attracting sponsorship from the private sector to offset expenses
