Due to the fact that repairs to the North River Road Bridge have not yet been completed, the Carnival Development Corporation (CDC) will provide a shuttle service for patrons attending the Miss St. Vincent and the Grenadines pageant at the Victoria Park this Saturday May 28th.
The CDC has arranged for patrons to park inside the Anglican Car Park free of cost while a shuttle will take persons from the Charles Verbeke Centre to the Victoria Park’s ‘hospital side’ entrance.
Chairman of the CDC Dennis Ambrose said on Monday during a press conference that the CDC is doing its very best to accommodate patrons that will be attending the show. He said that while the bridge is not accessible, arrangements are expected to help solve the problem to some extent. He encouraged persons to buy their tickets before the night of the show and to arrive early.
Ambrose added that on Saturday night, patrons attending the pageant will witness performances by nine beautiful ladies, “all with high potential” who will attempt to seize the coveted Miss SVG crown. He added that the girls have undergone months of work and this will be realized when they take the stage. He also used the opportunity to thank the trainers and chaperones for, “taking a group of girls with diverse backgrounds and helping them focus on one goal”.
He added that the night will also see a performance by Trinidad’s Calypso Rose who has been described as the Calypso Queen of the World.
Ambrose also added that the CDC is currently engaged in their regional and international marketing campaign in an effort to attract persons to these shores for Vincy Mas 2011. He also noted that to aid in visitor arrivals, LIAT has adjusted its schedule to increase the number of flights to SVG.
He stressed that the CDC continues to be functional and progressive, “and we have been tested and proven to be the best team as we have converted the Carnival product to what it is today”. He added that while the CDC, “cannot please everybody”, the organization’s members are made up of persons that listen.
The Chairman also used the opportunity to thank the media for their continued support while he commended the artistes that have already won crowns in 2011.
