Miss South Leeward eyes Miss SVG
Jovonne John has her eyes set on entering the Miss SVG pageant next year and says winning the title of Miss South Leeward on Sunday night is the “stepping stone” to fulfilling her ambition.
The 20-year-old Jovonne beat five other beauties to earn the Miss South Leeward crown at the Dzia Sports Bar, which is situated at Upper Questelles.
“I would have done well,” Jovonne stated after being crowned. “I worked hard.”
Jovonne showered praise on Safia London who helped with her training for the occasion and her Chaperone, Yvette Dennie.

Jovonne says the Miss SVG beauty pageant is “a prestigious show” which she wants to be a part of and come next year, she will be placing her name before the Carnival Development Corporation Beauty Shows Committee for consideration.
Stating she is a confident person, Jovonne feels she will gain selection.
One of her sisters took to the stage in the Miss SVG pageant in 2010.
Apart from winning the crown Jovonne was adjudged to have the Best Talent, Best Swim Wear and was the best in the Interview category. The Miss Photogenic sash was also placed on her shoulder.
A former student of the St Joseph's Convent Kingstown, Jovonne represented the South Leeward village of Lower Questelles as Miss Villamar Ltd.
Clare Valley representative, Khadeja Francis, Miss Lulley's Fishing Supplies , is First Runner Up, while Erica Lavia, appearing as Miss Rush Night Club from Vermont, took the Second Runner Up position.
Erica won the best swim wear category.
The other beauties in order of appearance were Giselle Morris, Miss Pinche's Trucking and Block-making of Upper Questelles; Nadia Delpesche, Miss Island Craft Supplies of Campden Park and Miss KPG Auto Repair, Noveysir Keane, of Chauncey.
