Let the youngsters enjoy Carnival

Head of the Carnival Bands Association (CBA) Hugh Ragguette is urging persons to not intermingle with the junior revelers during the uptown segment of Kiddies Carnival.

Kiddies Carnival is slated for this Saturday June 25th.
Speaking during the CDC’s final press conference for Vincy Mas 2011 on Tuesday, Ragguette stressed that Kiddies Carnival is probably the only time that the youngsters get to enjoy Carnival.

“I am hoping that I will not have to hear reports that persons who have absolutely no right to be around the bands are there”, said Ragguette who is hoping that the practice of intermingling ceases in 2011. Ragguette also called on members of the media to do their part by encouraging persons to stay out of the junior bands.
He added also that the CBA supports the CDC’s decision to not play certain songs at the events that are designed for the younger audiences.

“I support the non inclusion of certain types of music in the junior shows particularly at Junior Carnival”, said Ragguette who added that they do not want to offend the sensibilities of anyone, “so I am glad for the opportunity to make it clear that the Carnival Bands Association will not be supporting any of these songs to which many people have objections and which even some radio stations have refused to play”. He added that these songs will not be played on the road neither at the Victoria Park.
