Last weekend (beginning with the pageant on Friday) marked the culmination of the 2011 West St. George Carnival. On Saturday May 28th, the community held its J’ ouvert celebrations which ended with a beach splash at the Indian Bay Beach.
Said McKie, “on Sunday May 29th nothing could have prepared us for what was to unfold as Aviar Charles Miss Lotto and Miss SVG 2011 who is also a native of West St George celebrated her victory with us in West St. George”.
“Our street jump up was graced with beauty, elegance and charm in Aviar Charles Miss SVG 2011 and Sherecia Chandler Miss West St George 2011”, said McKie who added that there was a significant increase in patrons, “from a couple hundred community based supporters to a couple thousand persons from outside the community”.

McKie said that in conclusion, “it was a memorable and wonderful weekend and I would like to thank all the entities that made it possible namely the St. Vincent Brewery Ltd, Fragrances Boutique, Rockstar Omnibus Service, Francois Promotions, the Carnival Development Corporation and the hard working members of West St George Carnival Committee”.

Added McKie, “as the Carnival season goes on I would like to wish everyone a productive and violence free Carnival as we move out of rural and into urban Carnival”.
