Singing a song entitled 'In a vision' songstress Shanel Nanton took home the crown at the 2012 East St. George Calypso competition.
The competition was held on Friday June 8th at Club Swallows (formerly Club Macomay) in Villa and saw Nanton coming up against three other calypsonians including last year's winner Javelle 'Diya' Frank.
Diya singing 'Chant down domestic violence' managed only second place this year. This is the second calypso competition Diya has placed second in for 2012. She also took second place in the South Windward Calypso competition which was held on Sunday May 27th.
Third place in the East St. George Calypso competition went to Jerome 'Parry' Samuel with 'Endless Work' while coming in fourth was Michael 'Bosalt' Daniel who gave the gathering a song entitled 'Neglect'.
Meanwhile Diya and Parry members of the P'Tani Calypso tent have been selected to take part in the 2012 National Calypso semi finals scheduled for Friday June 22nd at Carnival City Victoria Park.
