Now that Miss Clare Valley Melicia Antoine has been crowned Miss South Leeward 2012, she says that she plans to one day take part in the Miss St. Vincent and the Grenadines pageant.
Antoine (sponsored by Lulley's Fishing Supplies SVG) took the crown on Saturday June 9th during the pageant which was held at the Dzia Sports Bar & Entertainment Complex in Questelles.
Currently enrolled at the Division of Technical and Vocational Studies (Technical College located in Plan, Arnos Vale) Antoine who also won the best talent category and received the award for the most Facebook likes commented after the show that she knew she would have won.
"I feel extremely well; I knew that i could have made it and I know I deserved it no matter what nobody says".
The 19-year old Clare Valley resident said that this was her first queen show and her winning was made possible by among others her cousin, supporters and organizers of the pageant.
In second place was Miss Questelles Kimberly Shepherd. Shepherd, sponsored by Island Craft Supplies also won the best interview and best swimwear categories.
In third place was Miss Campden Park Kaysuhke Daniel (sponsored by K R G Auto Repair). Daniel amassed the most points in the evening wear category.
Meanwhile, Miss Chauncey Alika Bentick (sponsored by Moments Entertainment) was said to be Miss Congeniality while Miss Penniston Tiffany Hadaway (sponsored by Express Business Concepts) was sashed Miss Photogenic.
The other contestants were Miss Rillan Hill Dale-Ann La-Borde (sponsored by Chance Unique Furniture) and Miss Vermont Shanette Boyde (sponsored by Presidente-St. Vincent Brewery Ltd).
Last year's (2011) Miss South Leeward Jovonne John who placed third in the Miss St. Vincent and the Grenadines pageant this year (2012) was on hand to congratulate the winners and hand over her crown.
The pageant was organized by the South Leeward Carnival Committee as part of the 2012 South Leeward Carnival celebrations.
