It will be none stop entertainment on Saturday July 7th at Carnival City Victoria Park when the National Soca Monarch Competition takes place.
This year 17 artistes will try to take the crown from the 2011 Soca Monarch King and seven time winner Delroy 'Fireman' Hooper. He will this year do a song called 'Discipline yo self'.
Taking part this year are Lornette 'Fya Empress' Nedd – 'Rum Please', Shaunelle Mc Kenzie – 'Carry on', Gamal 'Skinny Fabulous' Doyle – 'Monster', Aurella 'Queen B' Beache – 'Love it bad', Antonius 'Baddy' Simmons – 'Road Calling', Raeon 'Madzart' Primus – 'Haunted', Zoelah Boyde – 'Cyah move meh', Glenroy 'Homey' Delpesche – 'Stampize', Justin Arrindel – 'Rag invasion', Bernard 'Mentalis' John – 'Bend down and wuk up', Godwin 'Gao' Billy – 'Soca teacher', Eddison 'Lively' Mc Dowall – 'Mother country', Hance John – 'Mash up fete' (steel cut steel), Cornelius 'Poorsah' Williams – 'Wrong hole', Tamisha Nichols – 'Break away', Roland 'Pressure' Peters – 'Clear de road' and Travis "Wiz Kidd" Lynch –'Hard wuk'.
The winner of the show takes home EC$21,000 and the chance to represent St. Vincent and the Grenadines at the 2013 International Soca Monarch competition in Trinidad which brings with it an appearance fee of TT$100,000.
