My name is Shanique Peters. I was born on the 18th April 1987. I spent most of my childhood in Union Level on the beautiful island of Bequia. I attended the Bequia Anglican Primary School and then the Bequia Community High School.
During my final year in secondary school, I worked at a small supermarket called the Bequia Food Store. In addition to teaching me independence and how to manage time and money my early work experience also helped to finance my attendance at the St. Vincent Technical College where I studied Business Administration.
My ultimate goal is to one day be an entrepreneur like my mother who is also my role model. I have watched her work hard and diligently to provide for herself and me and my siblings. She has fought hard for her financial independence and instilled that fire in me.
My most recent job was at the Frangipani Hotel in Bequia where I was employed as a receptionist and clerk. This job gave me the opportunity to meet and interact with people from the wider Caribbean region and beyond. I enjoyed this tremendously as I consider myself a 'people person' willing to help, listen or give advice to anyone who asks. I love observing people and playing 'psychologist'.
I love to read novels and listen to music. I especially enjoy soul music as I think this is the type of music that most people can relate to. I also enjoy singing, dancing, athletics, going to the beach and spending time with my friends.
I have always led a full and dynamic life. In secondary school I was an active member of the choir, the drama club, the Youth Guidance Program, the Students' Council and the Young Leaders. I also participated in the UNESCO Sand Watch Small Island Voices Porgram in which students went to the beach to measure shore currents and waves and collect debris.
I decided to enter Miss SVG 2007 because the scholarship will enable me to further me studies and obtain a degree in Management and Psychology. In addition the pageant gives me the opportunity to try something new. I hope that by entering this pageant I can show young women that no matter your size. colour, shape or background, as long as you know who you are and what you want, you can achieve your goals.
My most valued belief is that with God and family you can never go wrong in life .
