The Biography of Nekesha
Adams
Miss Lotto
I was born on April 22nd, 1987, at the Milton Cato Memorial
Hospital to Juliet and Wendell Adams. However, at the age of 2, I moved to the
Grenadine Isle of Union Island where my father’s family resides.
I attended the Stephanie Browne Primary School and after successfully
completing the Common Entrance examination, I entered the Union Island
Secondary School (UISS), where my life became much clearer to me. My first year
was marked by the death of my best friend and cousin. She was filled with life
and energy and it pained me greatly when she was taken from this world.
From the moment of my cousin’s death, I decided that I was going to
work hard in life and in doing so I would be able to take my mind off of my loss.
I became an A student throughout my five years at UISS, sitting 9 CXC subjects
and passing all with 5 distinctions. I am very proud of myself and of my
achievements, not only in academics but also in my extra curricula activities.
In first form I was class prefect; in third form I took part in the
Secondary Schools’ Science Fair and won second place; I was part of the Girls’
Basketball Team at UISS and was awarded the George Phillips Award which is
given to top students in fourth forms around St. Vincent & Grenadines.
During these years I was interested in both science and business but I had also
developed secret love for entertainment, specifically singing. Looking for
opportunities to showcase and develop my talent, I began participating in talents
shows and pageants.
After graduating from UISS I attended the Community College in St.
Vincent and graduated with 3 A’ Levels; my advanced level studies allowed me to
explore new avenues and explore new interests.
At A’ Levels I acquired a penchant for law, and I have resolved that if
I do not make it in the world of business and entertainment, law is a field I
would consider pursuing as it is the only other discipline that grasped my
attention and intrigued me during my studies.
In the end it does not matter what my profession is, be it business,
entertainment or law, as long as I am successful in my chosen field. In my
opinion if Benazir Bhutto can be president of a country as highly sexist as
Pakistan, I know that nothing should stop me from pursuing my dreams.
