The Biography of Shanel Green

Miss Baileys Irish Cream

My name is Shanel Green. I am a 21-year-old resident of Lower Questelles. I am my mother’s only daughter and also the eldest of her four children. Being the eldest I naturally became a second mother to my three brothers who are now 16, 13 and 4 years old. I am very family orientated; a trait developed as a result of living in a single parent family. My mother is, and will continue to be, the most influential person in my life.

I am a graduate of the St. Joseph’s Convent Marriaqua, with passes in all the subjects I attempted. This institution made a strong impact on me academically and personally. I developed social skills and was taught humility and good decision-making skills at St Joseph’s Convent Marriaqua. I am particularly proud of the personal impact that this school had on me since a good personality can be pivotal in success.

I am also a graduate of the St Vincent & the Grenadines Community College (academic division), having received passes in all the subjects I attempted. I was extremely proud of my results for three reasons: firstly I worked my way through college and secondly my advanced passes qualify me for university entry.

At secondary school I was active in community work as a member of the 4H Club. Sadly however, my membership ended when I graduated.  At college I joined the Heritage Club and the Red Cross Society and although I am no longer in school I have retained my membership in these organizations. I am one of the organizers and also the Public Relations Officer for the Melbourne Artisans mas band. I cherish this role because it has enhanced my leadership and social interaction skills and I enjoy the art of Mas Production. I have a true passion for Vincentian carnival and as a result I am heavily involved in Carnival and I am extremely proud of my role as emcee at Junior Carnival 2006 and 2007.

I currently work at the St Vincent & the Grenadines Broadcasting Corporation (Ezee Radio branch) as an Announcer. I greatly enjoy my job because I can communicate and entertain thousands of people in a positive way.

I am a friendly, optimistic and ambitious person. I enjoy reading, watching television, listening to music and socializing with others. My main goal in life is to become a lawyer and I believe that one day this will become a reality.

I believe that life is a learning process and it is important to have a good attitude all throughout because this can make or break one’s success. One must be on a constant quest to better oneself because, like a fine wine, I believe that as time passes I will become better.

Being part of the Miss SVG Pageant will help me learn more about myself, others and society. It will also afford me the opportunity of getting closer to attaining my main goal in life.
